Distance Test of Wireless LAN devices.
How long the limit of distance which two Wireless LAN devices can communicate with each other? The answer can’t be clarified.
There are many factors which can be considered in the wireless communication.
Those are length of antenna cable, type of antenna, the environment, and etc.
Generally, people said the limit of normal distance in wireless communications are
Indoor: 20 ~ 30 m (≒ 65.6 ~ 98.4 feet)
Outdoor: 100~200 m (≒ 328 ~ 656 feet).
However, it is just an opinion. If the huge wall made of metal is located between two devices, the distance can’t be realized. Because the signal will be blocked, reflected, distorted or diffracted by the wall.
To reduce the damage of the faded signal, you can use high performance antennas.
We tested distance of communication with two devices in order to find out the difference of cables performance with their length.
The environment of test has barely any obstacles.
In conclusion, this result should be considered as a reference.
[Test Steps]
# 1. Two CSW-H80s with a 5m Antenna cable

# 2. Two CSW-H80s with a 10m Antenna cable

# 3. Two EZL-80Cs with CF Wireless LAN cards

[The Result]

#1. About 980m (≒ 2,214 feet)
#2. About 580m (≒ 1,902 feet)
#3. About 130m (≒ 426 feet)
