You can make connection with your own PC via Domain Name Service.

DynDNS lets you do that.

What is DNS?

Domain Name System is for easy remembering address with domain name (or host name) instead of IP address. It is easier to remember host name than IP address.

Is the service for only companies, organizations or public institutions?

The answer is No!

You can use the service on your own PC

If you use the DNS client program, DynDNS Updater, you can do this.

DynDNS has been offering anyone who wants to use the service making free account.

Each account can have 5 hosts.

When you use this service for free, if the IP address is not updated in a month, the confirming the account is required. They will send an e-mail a few days before the account is expired.

If you want to more account or don’t want to confirm the account, purchase an account.

The price is quite reasonable.

Related Configuration of IP Share Router with ezTCP

<IP Share Router>

Model: WRT 54GC Ver2.0 (LynkSYS)

Functions

 - Access Point device

 - Support DDNS

 - Support Remote management

 - Support Port Range Forwarding

There are some functions you should know how to use it when using ezTCP with IP share router.

In this description, I used a router of LynkSYS. However, if you have other routers, you don’t have to worry about it. Most of them have similar interface.

When you input the local IP address of router (192.168.1.1) in the web browser, the configuration environment will be shown like below shot.

1. Port Forwarding

Look at the below diagram.

When ezTCP is connected with an IP share router under environments like above figure, the port forwarding function should be set on the router.

This technique means when the packet arrived at the router, it forwards the packet to configured host with the information of port number.

Two ports should be opened at least.

The one is for the TCP connection, and the other one is for remote configuration.

The TCP port can be chosen by users but the default value of our products is TCP 1470 and the UDP port should be UDP 50005 because our configuration tool of ezTCP uses the port for remote search.

Following are the process of the configuration.

User image

A. Click the [Applications & Gaming] menu.

B. Select the item of [Port Range Forwarding]

User image

A. The comments can be set to easily identify each port.

B. Input the port numbers or ranges of numbers

C. Select protocols to the ports considering their purposes

D. Specify the IP address of ezTCP. You can set the IP address to your ezTCP with ezManager or ezConfig which are offered for configuration.

E. Check [Enabled] options.

If you do this, the router forwards the packet which is using the TCP 1470 and UDP 50005 to the device whose IP address is 192.168.1.2, when the router receive packet from Internet.

2. DDNS

When your device are in environment of assigning dynamic IP address, if you use it as a TCP server, DDNS functions should be needed.

User image

A. Click [Setup] menu.

B. Move to [DDNS] tab.

User image

C. Select [DynDNS.org] to use the function.

You can use other DDNS server. I use the server because I am familiar with that service.

If you use the service of DynDNS, you should register your account on the web site before doing that. (www.dyndns.com)

And they offer 5 free hosts for free and if you pay, more services are provided.

Anyway, register a hostname on the website.

These processes are needed to use DDNS.

D. Input your account's username and password.

E. Input the host name you registered.

F. Press the [Connect] button to update the IP address

G. If the update is successful, the message will be shown.

3. Remote Management

You are setting the IP share router in local network using the IP address of 192.168.1.1.

However, this supports remote management via Internet.

User image

A. Click [Administration] menu

B. Select [Management] tab

User image

C. Set password of the router.

D. Choose the [Remote Management] to [Enabled]

E. Define the [Remote Management Port] item. This number shouldn’t be the same as the TCP port for configuration. (TCP 1470)

User image

Now, you can manage the router via Internet. Just input the host name and the port number on your web browser.

4. Access Point (AP)

ezTCP/WLAN products can be connected with AP in infrastructure mode. In case of CSW-H80 supports IEEE 802.11B and G. In this step, we will look at the simple configuration for use ezTCP/WLAN models.

User image

A. Click [Wireless] menu.

B. Select [Basic Wireless Settings]

C. Choose the wireless standard modes. (We recommend the [Mixed] mode)

Other ezTCP/LAN products except for CSW-H80, only support IEEE 802.11B.

D. Set the SSID of your network. The same SSID has to be set on the ezTCP/WLAN products.

User image

E. Click the [Wireless security]

If you want to use security options, this tab lets you do that.

There are four security modes in this AP.

Following is supported security options for each model.

* CSW-H80: WEP, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA2-PSK (AES)

* Other ezTCP/LAN products: only WEP

In addition, there is another security process. It is called Authentication.

User image

A. Click the [Wireless] menu.

B. Select the [Advanced Wireless Settings] tab

C. Choose one of them. The same type should be set to ezTCP, too.
